Free skill training from the government

The government's Skill India Digital Hub (skillindiadigital.gov.in) lists courses for many trades, from electrician to beautician to hospitality. Many are free. You can also find nearby training centres there.

Under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), approved training centres teach job skills for free and give a certificate after an assessment. Some centres also help with placement.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) run one- and two-year courses for trades like electrician, fitter, welder and mechanic. Government ITIs have low fees.
