1. Who we are
IndicJobs (indicjobs.com) is an online platform that helps job seekers in India find work and helps employers find workers. IndicJobs is operated by the operator of IndicJobs. For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy.
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It applies to the website and to any IndicJobs app or service that links to it. Please also read our Terms of use.
2. The short version
- Job seekers use IndicJobs for free. We never ask job seekers for money.
- You log in with your mobile number and a one-time code. We do not use passwords for job seekers.
- Employers see your profile, voice answers and phone number only when you apply to their job, or if you choose to make your profile visible to verified employers.
- We do not sell your personal data. We do not show advertising and do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- You can see, correct, hide or delete your information, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: mobile number and/or email address (each confirmed with a one-time code), preferred language and, for employers and their team members, name.
- Job seeker profile (resume): name, city, type of work, experience, expected salary, when you can join, languages, any notes you add, and your voice recordings and their text, if you choose to record.
- Optional profile details: if you choose to add them, your date of birth (to show your age), gender, native place, a profile photo, short video answers for a video CV, whether you are willing to relocate, travel or stay at the work site, preferred shifts, your education (with certificates you upload), and licences or certificates (type, the last 4 characters of the number, valid-until date and the file you upload). We never store a full licence or document number. You can remove any of these at any time from your profile.
- Applications: the jobs you apply to and any note you send with an application.
- Job alerts: the type of work and city you ask to hear about.
- Employer information: business name, type, industry, city, address, GST number, website, a description, job posts (including any spoken job briefing) and the mobile numbers of team members you invite.
- Employer notes: the status, rating and private notes an employer records about applicants, and interview details.
- Messages to us: what you write in the contact form, reports about jobs and any other messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Usage counts: how many searches are made for each city and type of work, and how many times each job is viewed. These counts are stored without any link to you.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and the date and time of requests, recorded in our server logs.
- Security records: login code requests (we keep a reference to the code, not the code itself), the time and IP address of your consent, and a record of actions taken by our staff in the admin system.
You choose who sees your photo, video CV, education and documents on your profile's Privacy page. Our team may review photos and videos and remove any that break our rules. You must be at least 18 years old to add a date of birth.
We do not knowingly collect Aadhaar numbers, bank details, religion, caste or health information, and we ask you not to include them in your profile, recordings or messages.
Referrals
If you join through a friend's invite link, we record who invited you and show them how far you have got: signed up, profile completed, resume added, applied and hired, with your first name and the first letter of your last name. They never see your phone number, email or other details. We keep a coded (hashed) form of your phone number or email so the same person can't be counted twice, even after an account is deleted.
4. Why we use it, and on what basis
We process personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account and agree to this policy, and for the legitimate uses allowed by section 7 of the DPDP Act (for example, to comply with law, respond to legal requests or prevent fraud). We use it to:
- create and secure your account and send login codes;
- show your profile to employers in the ways described in section 5, and help you find and apply to jobs;
- let employers post jobs, review applicants and manage their team;
- check employers and jobs, prevent fraud, scams, spam and misuse, and act on reports;
- answer your questions and complaints;
- improve the service, using counts and totals that do not identify you;
- comply with law, including requests from authorities that are valid under Indian law.
We do not use your personal data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. We will ask for your consent again before using your personal data for any purpose not described here.
5. Who can see your information
| Who | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Anyone visiting the site | Published jobs and business names. Never job seekers' profiles. |
| An employer you apply to (and its team members) | Your profile, voice answers and their text, your note, and your mobile number, so they can contact you about that job. |
| Verified employers looking for workers | Your profile and voice answers, but only if you choose "Employers I apply to, and verified employers looking for workers" in your privacy settings. You can change this at any time. |
| Job seekers who applied to an employer's job | The employer's WhatsApp contact number, if the employer added one to the job. |
| IndicJobs staff | What they need to run the service, check employers, handle reports and answer support requests. Every staff action in the admin system is logged. |
| Authorities | Information we are legally required to disclose to a government agency, court or law enforcement authority under Indian law. |
Once an employer receives your information because you applied, the employer is responsible for how it uses that information and must follow the law and our Terms of use. If IndicJobs is merged, acquired or transferred, your data may pass to the new operator, who must keep to this policy or ask for your consent.
6. Service providers we use
These companies process data for us only to provide their service:
- Web hosting (GoDaddy): stores the website and its database.
- Login codes (Message Central): receives your mobile number to send your one-time login code by SMS. Codes sent by email go through our own mail server.
- Speech and translation (Bhashini, the Government of India's National Language Translation Mission; Google Cloud; Sarvam AI), when switched on: receive your voice resume recordings to turn them into text, and job and question text to translate and read aloud in an Indian voice. We send only the audio or text needed, never your name or phone number.
- Fonts (Google Fonts): your browser downloads fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
- File storage: voice recordings are stored on our hosting server or, when enabled, with our cloud storage provider (Cloudflare).
- WhatsApp (Meta): only when you tap a WhatsApp link or button, which opens WhatsApp and is governed by WhatsApp's own policy. If we start sending messages on WhatsApp, we will update this list.
7. Voice recordings and speech features
- Recording a voice resume is optional. You can type or tap every answer instead.
- Your recordings are private. They are never shown to the public, only to the people described in section 5.
- Voice search, spoken names and the live text shown while you speak use your browser's built-in speech service. Some browsers, such as Google Chrome, send that audio to their provider to turn it into text. This happens between your browser and its provider, under that provider's privacy policy.
- The "Listen" buttons use your device's text-to-speech and send nothing to us.
- You can delete all your recordings at any time from your resume page.
8. Cookies and similar storage
We use only cookies that are needed for the site to work: a session cookie that keeps you logged in and remembers your language, a security cookie that protects forms (CSRF protection) and, if you stay logged in, a "remember me" cookie. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will update this policy first.
9. How long we keep data
- Account and profile: while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law.
- Voice recordings: until you delete them, replace them or delete your account.
- Login code records: 7 days.
- Job alerts: until you delete them or your account.
- Applications: as long as both your account and the job remain, so you and the employer can see the history.
- Security logs, consent records and records of staff actions: at least one year, as required by the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, and longer if needed for a legal claim or investigation.
- Inactive accounts: we may delete accounts that have not been used for a long time. Where the law requires, we will warn you at least 48 hours before deleting.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- access a summary of your personal data and how we process it, and the people we have shared it with;
- correct, complete or update your data. Most of it you can edit yourself on your resume or business page;
- erase your data and withdraw consent. You can delete your recordings yourself. To delete your whole account, use Delete my account on your account page (this removes your profile, photo, recordings, video, certificates and applications straight away), or use the contact form and choose "Delete my account and data". Withdrawing consent does not affect processing before it, and some features will stop working;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to;
- complain to our grievance officer (section 15) and, if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
We may ask you to confirm your identity, usually with a login code sent to your registered mobile number, before acting on a request. We do not charge for requests.
11. Age limit
IndicJobs is only for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or apply for jobs, and employers must not post jobs for children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a child is using IndicJobs, please tell us.
12. Security and data breaches
We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), one-time login codes instead of passwords for job seekers, private storage for recordings, access controls for staff and logs of staff actions. No online service is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. If a personal data breach happens, we will inform the people affected and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
13. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored by our service providers, whose servers may be in or outside India. Any transfer outside India will be made only as permitted under the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for important changes, tell you on the site or by SMS before they apply. If a change needs your consent, we will ask for it.
15. Grievance officer and contact
If you have a question, a request about your data or a complaint, contact our grievance officer:
- Name: Raja
- Email: hello@indicjobs.com
- Contact form: indicjobs.com/contact
We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days, or faster where the law requires.
