Lesson 5 of 6

Answering common interview questions

Simple, honest answers to the questions employers ask most.

4 min +10 points

Tell me about yourself

Say your name, your work, how many years you have done it, and one thing you are good at. Keep it short. Example: "I am Ravi. I have worked as a tandoor cook for 4 years. I am fast and I keep my kitchen very clean."

Why did you leave your last job?

Be honest and polite. Never speak badly about your old employer. Say what you want now: "I want to grow and learn more", or "I moved to this city with my family."

How much salary do you expect?

Know the usual salary for your work in your city before the interview. Give a range: "Around 16,000 to 18,000, with food." If food or stay is given, that is worth money too.

Do you have any questions?

Always ask one or two:

  • What are the working hours and weekly off?
  • When is the salary paid every month?
  • Is PF or ESI given?
