Before moving to another city
- Get the job offer, salary and address in writing.
- Ask where you will stay and who pays for it.
- Share the employer's name, address and phone number with your family.
- Save some money for the first month and a ticket back home.
Before going abroad
- Use only a registered recruiting agent. You can check them on the government's eMigrate website (emigrate.gov.in).
- Get a contract in a language you understand before you go: salary, hours, food, stay and return ticket.
- Make sure your visa is a work visa, not a visit visa.
- Keep photos of your passport, visa and contract on your phone and with your family.
Your passport is yours
Keep your passport safe. If anyone takes it and won't return it, contact the Indian embassy or consulate in that country.
